Before there were birth certificates and birth dates and clocks, time was measured by the sun, the stars, the moon, the harvest.... the calendar was understood in terms of the seasons. We didn’t age like we do today. There wasn’t a system of putting another notch in our belts every 365 days. How old we were was determined by our physical strengths and capabilities, the agility of our minds, and the wisdom accrued from experiences. Spiritual strength and mental vigor were the deciding factors. And of course through the spirit and our minds and our lifestyles, our bodies became a reflection of that.
They say time heals all wounds. I think that’s true but it’s not simply the passing of time, of linear time. There is something else that happens when time heals pain. It is the softening of the heart that makes everything better, taking the time to realize that all things happen for our benefit no matter how heartbreaking. They’re there to strengthen us, to make us strong, and capable, agile, and wise.
Judgements make the time speed up, crash and burn. But a compassionate, loving, soft heart makes Time slow down, and last decades, centuries, and forever :)
I love you forever, Käla
